the merge is not priced in
eth staking APR would be 22% if mainnet merge was already on
current PoS rewards: 1542 ETH/day (4.2%)
fees last 24h: 6657 ETH
under PoS, all not burned fees go to stakers. that means the APR would equal 22.3%.
the merge is not priced in, because everyone who knows is already in. markets only fully price in events if informed actors have unlimited funds.

Is that APR going to drop after the merge from massive deposits? That's why many people think, but it's wrong. Every day only ~43.2k ETH can be staked. There's already 13.4M ETH staked. This means the APR will be very high for months as millions of ETH are in the pending deposit queue.

the best way to profit on this is to buy discounted steth (liquid staked eth in Lido). One steth equals 1 staked eth. Its current APR is 4% (10% performance fee). Which means ~20% APR after the merge.
Currently trades at 0.9737. It lost the peg after luna collapse as hundreds of thousands of steth used as collateral on anchor were dumped for eth in a panic.
Withdrawals of steth to eth (at 1) will be possible about 6 months after the merge.

the great part is that lido holders voted to prevent queued deposits from depressing the APR after the merge. Deposits are going to be paused when eth comes in too fast (lip-14).
here's what going to happen:
1. merge happens (august-september)
2. people see ~20% apr on steth
3. they buy it until 1 steth = 1 eth, then staking of new eth starts
4. deposit limit kicks in
5. the only way to get steth for most is to buy it above 1. price goes to 1.03.
6. this situation lasts for months because even if total staked eth doubles, which needs almost a year, 10% APR is still great.
7. the ideal exit period is about 3 months after the merge, as price is going to slowly trend to 1 as fork with withdrawals arrives. Easy 4-5% in addition to the yield.
