>I'm comfortable making investment decisions and trading - but the compliance aspect puts me off especially if the balance will be low for a few years.

My SMSF costs about $1,200 per year for compliance.

Compliance is pretty easy, you just give 1 years bank statements and trading account statements containing transactions and balances to your accountant.

Also if your business has a physical location you can put the building into your SMSF and lease it back to your business.

>Good links anon. I actually have a smsf, but I've never really done as much with it I should. Looks like some good ideas there.

Well to start you can just buy some crypto and gold maybe.
I buy btc from here https://www.independentreserve.com/
gold and silver I own at the perth mint.
interactive brokers is good for trading options if your into that.
if you want to have your cash work harder private real estate loans from here can be good. I'm getting 6.7% on my money from investing in loans from here https://www.balmainprivate.com.au/
