yeah so there are travel restrictions, i think you have to declare if you're transporting more than 10k$ USD.

but with gold it can also be disguised as jewelry. you could have a 1oz bracelet and a 1 oz ring that no one will think is suspicious. you could have a gold chain that weighs 1-2 oz. then you could bring a few gold coins along to maximize the amount of gold on your person without raising suspicion
