Do I sound anxious or something? I feel pretty calm.
I'm just arguing that advertising monero has both a good and a bad side. It's not unrealistic to argue that governments would like people to not know about and to not use monero, on the other hand the government itself uses monero to bait spies.

>if X government wants to ban, prosecute and criminalize Monero and its advocates
I don't think this is very realistic. Likely they would just ban exchanges from trading it and commerce from accepting it as a currency. I think they will hold from enacting this as much as they can because the moment they do it many people who have never heard of Monero will start to pay attention and research it.

Looking at the housing market explosion happening in Canada right now makes me extremely comfy holding monero. Either the Canadian looney is going to inflate like a balloon (thereby increasing XMR's value), or the bank will rein in the interest rates to higher levels (which will crash everything and make everything default so they will not do so)

Meanwhile I'm accumulating [an unknown amount of monero] a week with mining profits.

>what is an extended seed?
some wallets like the CLI for monero and Electrum for bitcoin offer the possibility of extending the mnemonic seed with your own custom words.
this is not something most wallets offer, but I think it's a very neat thing to use to improve your opsec... so you can have the a seed like:

vinegar cunning shackles nodes psychic wolf

and another like

vinegar cunning shackles nodes psychic wolf pokemon red is the best of all pokemons

and they open different wallets.
even if the beginning of the seed is the same, the custom words work like a password that only you know. this means that the access to your could storage is not written anywhere in the world and is impossible to hack.

>Monero lacks plausible deniability.
Lmao. The whole point of ring signatures is plausible deniability which simply proves my point that you don't understand the underlying technology and you also don't understand privacy implications in a more general and broader sense.
Monero is not banned. It's not illegal. Kraken offers it for a very long time. St Louis Fed actually recommends regulation that lets private cryptocurrencies to be created and managed by the population instead of a centralized power. Tor is not banned although it's the only door to darknet markets and actual pedophilia. Monero is not going anywhere. Grayscale announced a Monero fund so institutional investors can pour money on it.
Apple has been positioning itself as the only privacy-friendly company from the big 5. You think the government is gonna go against what is the next "cool" thing? LAUGHING MY ASS OFF. Wake up to real life, son.
Imagine shilling a fucking token from a highly expensive network that was actually premined via an ICO so you can make the owners rich. Pathetic.

>Why would I shill tornado cash if I didn't value privacy?
Because you're either dumb or a massive bag holder.

>Why should I buy a bitcoin etf when I can buy the actual bitcoin itself? Can anyone explain this to me?
Holding the ETF is inferior in every way
WITH ONE DIFFERENCE:
You can buy the Bitcoin ETF using your TFSA which literally means you don't need to pay taxes on your investment. I'm not sure if Bitcoin is going to 200k in this run but I will for sure dump a bunch of money on it on my TFSA once the bull run starts because I don't like paying taxes.

Kraken if you are a trader. Newton/Shakepay if you just want to buy easily and withdraw to your wallet immediately.

Absolutely not. Completely unnecessary unless you want to gift the other hardware wallet to me.
Yes, the exchange has your monero address, and hopefully you've used a subaddress (starts with an 8) and not your main wallet address (starts with a 4). Anyway, it doesn't matter, now that you're in the monero blockchain no one can see that you're moving your stack, not even the exchange. It's like if you went to the bank and withdrew $500 from the teller. The teller knows he gave you $500. What you made with that later... He has no fucking idea and can't trace it to save his life.

Welcome to the Monero General, dedicated to the discussion of the world's leading decentralized p2p privacy cryptocurrency!

Monero is secure, low-fee, and borderless, meaning users can send XMR around the globe despite corrupt governments or broken financial systems. Innovative privacy features such as Ring Signatures, Stealth Addresses, and Ring CT (hidden tx amounts) ensure that Monero's blockchain is obfuscated -- the financial history of all Monero users is encrypted from the prying eyes of adversaries on a public blockchain, with transactions being visible only by a Monero user willingly providing a view key for a specific transaction.

Monero has also improved upon the scaling downsides of current popular cryptos. To avoid high fees, dynamic block size ensures that the size of the blocks will increase as the amount of txs increases. Further, the mining network algorithm RandomX establishes that anybody with a CPU can participate in mining, preventing the ASIC miner domination that creates a high barrier of entry. Lastly, the mining network will be preserved by Tail Emission -- instead of the block reward falling to zero like with Bitcoin, the block reward will gradually approach 0.6 XMR in May 2022, where it will forever stay. This constant linear inflation means the inflation rate will asymptotically go to zero while continuing to provide an incentive to miners to maintain the network.

If you still have questions, feel free to ask and a MoneroChad will be with you shortly.
