A world where the governments dictate the price of PM's for our safety... and needs... eg. the price of silver for necessary green technology like batteries and solar panels and the price being too high would be the equivalent of killing planet earth - it could be heavily demonised from this point of view and an easy vacuum used on weak hands and 'patriotic' types. This isn't necessarily about confiscation but it's going to imprint in peoples minds gold is worth x and silver y... for them. The actual markets might continue on but within defined limits. Black market trade would be useless.

We are really looking down the barrel of a gun now... not just the abyss.
