I'm staying in the bay area in an extremely wealthy neighborhood right now... it's clean, and beautiful and overlooks the bay. The weather is gorgeous. There were protests "in the city" but no riots, haven't heard of much crime. The worst thing during the riots was a break in to a little knick-knack store or something a little bit away from the main areas.

I really don't think these people hate living here. I think the poorest people are the high-paid silicon valley types. I know of some people looking to move, but they'd be in the same school district just a little further away so they'd have more acreage.
