I'll borrow a bit from philosophical language here to get my point across. The rules, laws, and norms that make up every day society are phenomenal. That is to say that they are true with respect to the fact that they are experienced and have consequence. They are apparent and easy to find and engage with. Behind those rules you have numinous, the real underpinnings of how things work. Those will forever be largely unknowable to most people because they are dictated by people and organizations, loose organizations, that every day people are aware of only peripherally. People are aware of the existence of old money in the fact that they understand that there are old families and that those families have wealth. They have no idea how those families operate in the macro and micro sense. Similarly, there are career bureaucrats and long serving members of public service who wield tremendous power that people will never hear of or think of but who absolutely dictate how people live their lives in a variety of ways. Both of those groups that I mentioned are unchecked, there is no real oversight to how they do and what they do. Sure, there may be phenomenal checks on what they do but look at what happens when they need something or when they get in trouble: they skate. That's numinous: rules and realities beyond the understanding of the common person.

Now schizos will add in unnecessary mystical bullshit, sometimes because they're broken inside and sometimes because of the basic human propensity toward legendary accretion. This is unnecessary, untrue, and often times unhelpful to the point of being detrimental. Sometimes it's intentionally so but there are plenty of people out there who are just mentally broken such that they see things that aren't there or need to lie for attention.

tl;dr - Understand that there is more to the world than your experience thereof and modify your behavior accordingly.
