Because Ethereum is a piece of shit and it's easy to exploit unless you are very careful about programming your smart contract.

The same exploit has been used over and over again since the DAO was hacked in 2016. Yet, instead of switching to a better L1 the market just ignores it and lets it happen again.

One of the biggest problems with crypto is that the first mover advance and network effect prevent us from switching to better technology. With centralized systems they just patch the bugs and make everything better overnight. With crypto we are still using the same fundamentally flawed software that was developed 10+ years ago and it is very difficult to switch over to something better.

Hopefully CCIP makes that transition as painless as possible, because Vitalik ain't doing shit.
