Anon, I used to be like you. I wanted nothing more than a 1997 Ford Escort Cosworth. I nearly spent £25k on one but I never went through with it in the end. A year or two later I am glad to say I didn't buy it. While they *do* go up in value, you are very likely to spend up to a 3rd of the cars value in just maintenance, repairs, rare parts, proper storage ect.
