fluffypony is very anti bitmain / ASICs I think. so they wrote this post about how they would chang the PoW algo on monero if bitmain released a cryptonight ASIC. then 1 month later bitmain releases it. the ASIC is 88x more efficient than GPUs, and pretty much makes GPUs obsolete. so then monero community decides to hardfork monero just to fuck over bitmain, and the hashrate drops by like 70% or something. now all the bitmain cryptonight ASICs can only mine a few other shitcoins and barely make any money. jihan has the last laugh because probably made enough money mining XMR to pay for business cost that went into ASIC. now jihan can dump all his xmr and never let it go up in price
