Ok this sounds extreme wagecuck, but hear me out. It's some actual advice.

First work at least for a year as manager so you can at least escape to an other shop if you don't get a raise. Then ask for a raise to 23. If he asks why tell him you got more responsibilities last year and you achieved to company goals so now it's time to get paid as a manager. If he says no, then ask him what he can offer. He will jew you like I can give you 17 etc. Say that you think about it. Now for the weeks coming get a few odd days off. Make it a mystery what you are going to do, so people will fill in the blanks that you are looking for an other job. Get back to him and tell him that 17 isn't enough and that it needs to be at least 20. He will take the offer if it's hard to replace you because he is scared you already got something going at an other place.
