Yeah that's part of the problem of pasteurization. Over 117 degrees Fahrenheit if I remember correctly it deactivates all enzymes. This is coincidentally the same temperature that feels hot to the touch, so you can touch something you're cooking and tell if it is raw or not. These enzymes make it easier for you to digest, and it's why raw milk goes bad faster than pasteurized. A baby cow has underdeveloped pancreas so can't produce many enzymes to digest with. This can cause pasteurized milk consumption and rejection to be diagnosed as "lactose intolerance". Sounds like your wife is another data point that lactose intolerance is actually pasteurized milk intolerance. Eat more raw foods too like raw eggs. A raw egg has everything a baby chick needs to grow, it covers most stuff for you too.

Nourishing traditions book is a good primer on this stuff. It has a ton of great recipes too.

Yeah. Tropical fish is good to eat, you have to be careful about certain northern fish since they are PUFA ridden.

Good. Avoid avocado oil. I know someone who fed that to their baby and it got eczema, an inflammatory disease (surprise surprise!) Of course that's why it's marketed to urbanites with avocado toast
