sure, but my main point is that those sort of "fundamental" stats are often useless and contradictory. i've been trading AMD for a long time now and i've been reading bears on stocktwits calling it overpriced the whole time, and it more than fucking doubled in price from the price it was at BEFORE the covid crash ffs. i just feel like at the end of the day P/B or P/E or whatever you want to look at is fairly useless.

much better to look at debt/cash burn and innovation i'd say. market is forward looking, after all.

it's easy to say in hindsight. at the very least i wasn't willing to let a massively winning trade turn into a loser. i didn't know as much back then as i do now though, unfortunately, but i'll be ready for whenever it happens next time (and i think we all know, capitalism will always have boom and bust cycles, it's only a matter of time). if you look at the AMD chart i basically bought in to the dump after that earnings which then dumped due to covid if you want to see what sorta percentage we're talking here. felt bad because i wanted to be one of the people who bought AMD low and could just hodl it for 30 years or something, like it couldn't possibly drop that much again, but i was wrong because, again, world events will fuck any and every company regardless of their personal fundamentals. taught me a lot so i can't complain.

as many people here will agree: you're free to do so, and it can be very profitable, but you're playing with fire. upside can be nice but if you pick one of the ones that gets "found out" you could lose everything you put into it.
