I’m about to graduate university (ukfag) and will have first class honours in programming, the thing is I realise now that working for someone will always end up me being screwed over, I want to prevent that. The idea is to start developing video games, I know this is generally looked down upon but the way things are now, I think it’s a good time to enter the games industry however I lack experience in both developing games and business, do you think I should still try to be a independent game developer? Studying only got me so far, it was doing the work that got me where I am and that should be the case for this correct? If I do go ahead with this, I am based in the U.K., where do I even get started? How to fund the business? What do I even need to know that I haven’t thought of?

I need some help, i need to come up with a good business name, it will start out as a game studio but I want potential to go beyond that so it cannot be specific, it needs a more unique general name like Disney as an example.

I’ll keep looking for ideas in the mean time but I’d like to hear your guys input as well.
