Can someone explain to a retard like me what “shorting” means. I always thought short/long referred to the time you held a coin before selling it. Like if you go long on bitcoin it’s because you think the price will double next year so you just buy cheap and wait for the top, where shorting meant you think the coin is going isn’t going to increase in value long term but will spike slightly before dumping so you buy and sell right before the dip.

So how did the guy 3x his LUNC if the price has only fluctuated 5-10% this past week or so, I don’t get it.
