I suspect BOTH pfe and mrk are doing their spinoffs in an attempt at financial engineering to force a rerating of the company at a higher valuation. This is a gamble, it’s not something that has been pushed for by the shareholders, it’s just bullshit from management.

There are good arguments to make for PFE, and there are good arguments to be made for dividend-focused investing. That is not one of them.
