When I was 16 I bought a $400 seiko stainless steel watch with gold plates, no one ever complimented me on it or gave a shit despite how intricate and nice it looked, I liked it til it stopped working.

1 year ago my wife bought me this watch at Walmart, $30 and gold plated. I have received more than 10 compliments on it since she purchased it from me. People always look at it and tell me what a nice watch it is, especially the old timers.

Now what do these compliments mean to me? Jack shit, but it's the only watch I'm ever gonna wear for the rest of my life because my wife got it for me.
