Update on my algo progress:

Step 1: Place an order from python script (SUCCESS)
Step 2: Retrieve historical bars from python script (SUCCESS, thanks to anon who helped me troubleshoot the other day, I got my requests to go through)
Step 3: Write the actual script to buy/short once a day. (On this now; considering a couple strategies here. I have a neat little nearest-neighbors algo that I've been using for manual trading for a while, but if I might be able to make money just buying near moving average and selling if it dips below or breaks upper bollinger. Anyway this is the fun part, I'll try and make modular models so I can easily try different ones out.)
Step 3.5: Find a way to backtest maybe? If worst comes to worst I can write the backtesting script myself, but it'd be nice if something already exists.
Step 4: Once I'm sure my script works, I find a cloud service so I can run it 24/7.
Step 5: get rich

Step 1: successfully place a trade from python script (SUCCESS)
Step 2: successfully retrieve historical bars from python script (troubleshooting, might need to try a different api)
Step 3: Devise model to predict most profitable stock each day, carry out trades in the last hour of the market
Step 4: profit forever, I will integrate short selling into the model so I can make money even in bear markets

Good news fellow patricians! I have successfully placed a trade from my python script.

Now comes the fun part, where I work with the actual strategy. Might be cool to play around with some basic ML algos, but I might be able to do just as well with bollinger bands. Whatever. The world is my oyster

I have begun developing an algo script to practice python for work and hopefully make some more money. Suggest strategies if you like, I'll be trading with daily intervals or more to get around the PTD rule
