As a precious metal it's overblown, but for plumbing it's amazing. Modern housing is filled with plastic garbage pushfit. It is only good for temporary fixtures and horrendous when used for central heating as the joints expand and contract too much leading to leaks. Copper is so good for plumbing that you can pretty much fit it and then forget about it for the rest of your life.
