All Blockchains are one through the power of Cosmos. This thread is for the discussion of any Crypto built on Cosmos SDK/Tendermint, with particular focus on the Cosmos Hub’s main token: ATOM.

First, the gains: I went in big on ATOM a week or two ago when the price was around 7 dollars. It hit 15 today. If you read on, you will see why people are so bullish about the Cosmos Hub and the greater environment. If you only take one thing away, remember this date: 2/18.

“Cosmos” refers to a set of development tools for creating blockchain projects, and it refers to the Cosmos Hub that uses the ATOM token. Cosmos is special because it seeks to join all the different blockchain standards together, linking ETH, BTC, and all the others into one giant internet of blockchains that can freely and efficiently communicate. At the same time, the multitude of projects/zones enjoy more independence than possible under a system like ETH or DOT. It is therefore the broadest and most ambitious blockchain market out there, and hopefully the most attractive to developers who want to retain a greater degree of control and independence over their IP. Also, Cosmos is far more efficient than ETH, forget about getting f’d by gas fees.

The ATOM proof-of-stake token refers to the Cosmos Hub. Essentially, all the independent projects or “zones” connect to the hub, which in turn secures and facilitates all the inter-blockchain communications. The tokenomics consists of a tax on all data that flows through the hub, all token swaps conducted and transactions on the hub, any inflation (currently at 7%), and governance. The ATOM token does not need to be used in the various zones (although it is permissible), its value comes from inter-communication.

The Cosmos environment (all projects based on the sdk/tendermint protocol) has a market cap over 20 billion usd. The Cosmos Hub is now a little over 3 billion usd.
