The opposite actually. Skycoin never paid him anything, and never agreed to pay him anything. It was supposed to be a joint marketing collaborative type of partnership. But McAfee is in financial trouble due to his lavish lifestyle, and the IRS is hounding him, so he started demanding money, and Skycoin refused (rightly so).

To be honest, this is the first bit of decent publicity McAfee has done for the project since his tattoo lol. More people will look into it now, and everyone who looks into Skycoin properly ends up realising that it's the most legit blockchain project in the market.

Speed depends on transmission mechanism - wireless/radio/fiber/satellite etc.

The coin has value, currently around a dollar. The value fell along with everything else during this bear market, but that's just part of the cycle.

As for funds being frozen, that was Binance, and they froze the BTC, not the Skycoin. The scammers dumped their stolen SKY for BTC, but Binance froze the BTC, awaiting the outcome of the legal trial in China.

If the judge rules in Skycoin's favour and Binance releases that BTC back to Skycoin then they'll market buy $SKY with it and pump the price back up where it belongs.
