All of these are connected. With the exception of NEO, they all came out at roughly the same time, and were all IMMEDIATELY connected to NEO. A lot of these were started by cofounders of NEO.

HPB claims the following in their white paper on page 23.

I'm a firm believer in Ethereum as a platform. But I also think some of its competitors will continue to rise up and contest its dominance. One promising competitor is NEO.

What are the "ERC20 tokens" for NEO? The dapps and coins built on top of the NEO platform? Is there such a thing? What are they called? What are some good ones?

Its not something I hear mentioned a lot, but if NEO continues to grow, I could envision a similar boom in NEO-based tokens to what we have been seeing with Ethereum based ones.
