The first lesson of making it in this crab market is: don't be optimistic, and don't be pessimistic either. If things just went up for a while and current price minus sma200 is relatively high, don't buy, maybe short, if it's low, don't short, maybe buy. It's hard to swing such a market, but if you wait long enough you get to points where things are back to being fairly high (like when SPX > 4000) or fairly low (like when SPX < 3600) which can be good opportunities to take advantage of the crabbing.
