It's not too bad. You can do a comparison between TQQQ and QQQ during flat rangey periods in the past to see what happens. The result is TQQQ does big waves above and below the QQQ line. You may or may not be deep underwater on it at any given time depending where your cost basis happens to be. If you cost average a leveraged index fund like this you can potentially pull way ahead of the market over time. The killer of all your gains isn't flat price action, it's a long drawn out bear market.
