I got a physics PhD (but in Germany where it's under $500 a year) and I value the education also for itself. From that few it's worth even if it weren't beneficial for a job (which however it also is).
If business is your thing, then I'd say that's just as interesting. Security guard seems like a dead end in terms of developing to me, but I don't want to show prejudice there either.

From my time on /biz/, the number one rule is to keep in mind that everyone here emotionally overreacts to things like 1000x. When BTC is going up, oh it must be going to 1 million EOY, straight green 1min candles all the way there. When BTC drops, it's constant cries of "it's going to zero! it's 12/2017 all over again! It will never ever recover from this!" etc.
If you're trying to trade based on /biz/ sentiment, you're always going to get rekt. You're going to hold longer than you should and you're going to not buy in when you should, because you were convinced that it will go lower.

Personally I'm holding through all this because I didn't even see the notification until last night when everything was already down like 15-20% anyway. I'm fundamentally bullish for 2021, so whatever.
That said, don't think we're out of the woods just yet. It wouldn't surprise me at all if it starts dumping down further and this could be a mini bull-trap.

I have enough to run an eth node, but I won't. The problem is, at least how things currently are, it's not worth it to stake your eth. Think about it. Even after things are 100% operational, how long does your stake get locked away for? Isn't it like 2 fucking years? So let's say I decide to stake. During that time, I have to keep my node running the whole time, and downtime means I'm penalized, or at the very least not making money. And what's the APY on that? I know it's a sliding scale, so let's say somewhere between 5-15%.

Okay, but we're in a bull market. Most people think it's going to crash in late 2021, but there's wiggle room there. Either way, almost everyone is certain that 2 years from now, we're going to be back in another bear market like with 2018. So if you stake your eth, you won't be able to take advantage of the bull run. And your eth will be worth significantly less by the time it gets unlocked and you can actually sell. And there's absolutely NO WAY the staking rewards can compete with the capital gains from taking advantage of a parabolic bull run.

Now, if that weren't reason enough on its own why staking isn't worth it during a bull run, there's also the fact that DeFi exists. You can already lend out your eth via DeFi and get pretty good APY, without needing to lock it up for a massive length of time. Meaning you can get interest on it and still sell during the bull run.

Why is /biz/ always so fucking dramatic about everything. Things go up and down. Macro trend is still up. If you're a newfag who FOMO'd while it was parabolic, sorry to hear that, but just calm the fuck down and wait. If you haven't realize this yet, this is all just the opening act of the next bull run. BTC and ETH haven't even reached last cycle's ATH yet. Things are going to heat up really quick once those happen, and 2021 is going to be nuts. Meanwhile, chainlink will continue to grow in market share, just as it did throughout the entirety of the bear market.

I swear to god, every time there's any pullback at all, out come the same bullshit of "CHAINLINK IS GOING TO ZERO!" or "PREMINED JASON PARSER SHADOW FORK" or whatever the fuck.
