My Set Up:
NMKD Stable Diffuser (Automatic 1111/Midjourney are probably better but NMKD was much easier to install locally)
I use counterfiet v30 model (aka the NovelAI one) which can be found in CivitAI. There are alot more really good models to pick from I just like this one.

I use Euler Ancestral, Step:30, CFG:12 for renders. You can play with these values but I've found these get me a good foundation. Feel free to experiment however.

My process:
I start at 512x512 or 512x1024 and go from there. I render everything from 5-20 as my early drafts and build from there. Depending on your rig this could take a while or be really quick. I can churn out renders at 512x512 at lighting speeds and then lower my output at bigger sizes.

Once I have a good foundation I inpaint parts of my render. In Jiemi's case this is her outfit, eyes, body, etc. One at a time and only 3 renders at a time per inpaint. Anymore and you'll get overwhelmed since sometimes the variations are subtle.

One critical step is to "knock out" your render into a white background or lightly colored background. It makes it easier to crop out when done and colors tend to be "absorbed" by the AI affecting your render. So dark colors will make your model appear darker, while lighter colors will make it lighter. Another quirk is linework will sometimes be "stained" by that color. Hugging Jiemi has subtle yellow linework and that's because the original had a light green/yellow backgrounds during renders, altering the final piece.

Inpaint (cont) This step happens before, after or even in parallel to renderings. I load up my draft in Ps and begin coloring or sketching parts. I AM NOT a designer, I suck at Ps, I suck at drawing but the beauty of stable diffusers is they are great at interpreting sketches. (MS paint works too but you get less control as your design gets more refined)
