I'm 21, a uni student, and I have $10k or so sitting around in a savings account haemorrhaging purchasing power due to inflation. I don't really need the liquidity. At the same time, putting it into a diversified portfolio of broad-based index funds seems too boring for my liking. What's a good but lesser known bet I can make right now with a higher but not unreasonable amount of risk (don't shill me crypto)?

Yes, that's exactly what i said. I wasn't trying to argue with you fren, i agree with you. My point was more to say not everybody actually WANT to become the reserve currency. During good times it's the golden goose, but when it backfires, it backfires hard. Often with profound political changes at the local level.
And i believe everybody smell there is gas in the air, so they aren't too much in a hurry to take the relay. Why threaten your comfy lifestyle with a hurricane if you are a chink or an indian politician after all?

Media loves to depict reserve currency status as a run where everybody have this goal in mind. Reality is more like a race where only the USA showed in the starting block lol.

I was thinking of putting 40-60k into a 12 month CD.
