Coping: Unironically church. It's been a years-long journey. Was raised religious, was agnostic in high school, got techno-spiritual ("what if we build god in the singularity"), was culturally religious (recovering /pol/ack), then had genuine religious experience (unlike previous experiences w/ shrooms, etc) and now try to go weekly, but lately have failed at this.

Trying hard to build good habits for maintaining myself (picrelated is something I loosely base this off of). I see this as practice for raising children, since a lot of our work in that regard will be as examples. Getting enough water, proper diet, exercise, good sleep habits, minimizing substance use, remembering hair cuts and taking care of clothes. Gf has me doing skin care for my face since I'm starting to show my age.

A lot of that is talk, unfortunately, and I hope you're farther along on the obvious fixes than I am. I want to learn meditation. I pray often but I see these as different. The big improvement recently is getting to be more social; it's crazy how not interacting with people makes you build up personas for them. Getting to know some of the people I go to school with makes them seem a lot more human and less intimidating. It's also a little weird since a lot of them are 3-6 years younger than me, but a lot of the issue there is something I built up in my head. I didn't think anything of someone being 28 when I was 24, and neither do they.

Last advice: Read Getting Things Done by David Allen. I used to hate these kinds of books but a mentor bought it for me and said it was a self-management book for a humanities man. It's full of quotes from the liberal arts applied to self-management, and it's honestly a nice system.

Let me share this with you without you getting upset at what I have. Last night I complained about a lot of the same things as you, career-wise anyway, to my gf. She told me that if I can't wake up in the morning and be grateful for the things I have--good education, good work, living in a time when I could go out and master any new skill, etc--then I'm never going to wake up with the passion to do something great. Without gratitude, every one of the million little things you need to do to achieve greatness will just be chores to you.

Have gratitude, OP, even if you got a bum deal in the looks department. A lot of those uber-successful people on wikipedia look weird as hell, some even slipkis ugly.

You know you have to do something. The fact that all of this bothers you, and you aren't content to just get fatter off of booze and pies and go watch City or United or whatever the fuck shows that you know you have a capacity for doing something remarkable. Stop looking at the others and improve yourself. I guarantee there is a lot you can do now, pic related

By the way, nice work on staying away from the junk food. Cut your time on 4chan in half next. Good luck OP

this. Larping what success looked like in the late '80s would make you stick out like a sore thumb in the worst way. Assuming you don't just mean getting /fit/ and taking care of your skin

If you want real self improvement just check out the /sig/ general on /fit/ anon. Pic related will get you started
