I just ran the numbers out of curiosity. To set a 5% interest rate with $30 trillion in debt, the US would have to pay over a trillion dollars a year, or about 1/3 of all tax revenues. Even at 2% that's still half a trillion a year, 15% of revenues. We are so utterly, unbelievably fucked it's difficult to comprehend.
