will do - I own Rainbows End but haven't read it yet, it's on the list. it's funny, I was REALLY into transhumanism for a while as well.. lost my Catholic faith, became really afraid of death, fuck I even studied electrical engineering to get into mind uploading / brain machine interface research, but fizzled out of school. it's a wash, even if we can copy and simulate every single god damn neuron and upload you onto AWS.. it won't be "you".

I leave with with a neat short story / novella - The Metamorphosis of Prime Intellect. premise: programmer programs an AI, AI eventually is able to improve itself in such a way that it basically becomes God - at least all knowing, all powerful, and abiding by Asimov's Three Laws (so shall we say all loving?). great story.
