I have a wire transfer on the way to coinbase but theres one question I have before I hit the buy button next week. I am completely bought into the oracle problem and chianlinks ability to address it, and I know they are the leader in an important space with huge potential.

But why does chainlink need its own erc-20 token? Would it not be possible to pay node operators in eth and stake eth tokens for oracle jobs? What are the advantages of having a specific link token instead of just doing everything in eth?
