the other scenario i am entertaining is that this lawsuit represents the last attempt by the legacy system (SWIFT and the banks who stand to lose primacy as a result of XRP Flare and Flare Finance) to torpedo the sea change Ripple represents. bolstering this argument is how viscerally slimy and personally unpleasant of a person Jay Clayton is, i'm not sure if you've ever seen the man talk but he is just such a fucking weiner it's unreal and I have no doubt that he is 100% owned body and soul by the entities who control the banks (i mean that in the legal as well as the metaphysical sense)

SWIFT and Ripple are competitors, but they are working together in the system (along with R3 Corda's Settler). SWIFT is the legacy tech, Ripple is the new hotness, Ripple's superior tech will replace SWIFT, but they are cooperating.

remember how SWIFT was in a lawsuit against Ripple but that ended earlier this year and now they seem to be buddy buddy? And SWIFT introduced its new GPI cross border digital payment system recently? the one that just went live this week?

Seems like they use a lot of the same language used to describe Ripple (pic related). Is that a coincidence, do you think?

I think SWIFT is on the way out and they know it, because they don't have the tech Ripple does, namely ODL-driven cross border payments that are real-time and low-cost. SWIFT is still making huge amounts of money off stuff like remittances, and they are still slower. For this reason, they will be replaced by Ripple.

To me this is also indicated by Ripple taking a place of prominence in the ISO20022 regulatory framework. For a long time that was pretty much SWIFT's realm, if I'm not mistaken. The fact that Ripple is not just a participating member, but a key part of the regulatory framework, indicates to me that the landscape is shifting. Then again, it's entirely possible I am just a Ripple fanboy and my perception is being distorted by my wild lust for sweet sweet liquidity.

I know Ripple is on the certifying board of ISO20022 along with SWIFT, so that would seem to imply that they are working together as well.

in any case it's irrelevant, Ripplenet is incredibly advanced.
