If you want to make money from this, then pick a sub genre fetish with little competition and you're set.
Only thing that's limiting me from making 100k or more from this field is my drawing speed.
I'm slow as fuck and can barely make minimum wage, but I'm constantly getting faster. It's only a matter of time until I can pull doctor's salary from this.
And best thing is that the amount of furries and other degenerates is constantly growing. There's unlimited business in this field.
Also the amount of creators is tiny compared to consumers. There's very little competition when you're above average level of skill.

For the same reason why Pokemon, MLP and others similar things do.
Those shapes are big round and friendly looking and the eyes are massive and colors bright.
These are all things that autists gravitate towards. My theory is that those simple things like massive eyes make it easier for them to understand character's emotions. Couple this with the safe round shapes and fun colors, and you have one hell of an autism magnet.
