Alright I'll bite, Amazon, Walmart (and other retailers) weren't as prominent in 2007 and 2013 when the previous generation consoles were released. Zoomers have grown up buying from other sources and have probably not even stepped into a Gamestop all their lives.

What implies their sales will pop like they did in the past? And that rumor that they're pivoting into Amazon-level marketplace isn't realistic given their returns.

Do you tell your family about your money? They're all poor and I'm the only one with a seemingly working brain. I'm literally still an undergrad, zero debt, zero loans, studying computer engineering. Hold around 80k and never buy anything unless I see a ROI on it (i.e., supplements towards my interests and needs and social activities that produce capital mid-long term). I realize this is selfish. I haven't liquidated anything yet, so it's not like I have the money. It isn't even a lot, but I know it will scale. My mom always questions me "being on my laptop," or reading and doesn't understand a thing. She sees me as a jobless college nerd.

Is keeping my family in the dark a longterm error? I ask those with experience of this situation. Is it my responsibility to carry the mantle and be selfish or do I incrementally help my family as I go along?
