That's a big reason. Others are their small size makes it hard to see the design and any scratches or dust take up a relatively huge amount of area, and their small mass makes it wholly unsatisfactory to hold.
Assayed bars are different though. I've stopped buying them (have enough now), but they are easy to unload because so many people can afford them.

Premiums should carry through regardless of spot fluctuations. Buy what you like. Build the stack *you* like. If gold moons, the few extra bucks you paid will be chump change.
