The choice, for everybody, is obvious: society itself has been replaced by artificial intelligences of limitless power and ability to kill, whose every action is scrutinized by an autonomous police force which fears nothing and fears no one and who are put in the place of the kingdom or nation or clique or culture that makes this choice. This is a terrifying prospect for anyone who has taken a step outside of the safety net of oppression.
This does not mean that there won't be struggles.
