It’s not raping my earnings. It’s like £500 atm but it’s going to £800. It’s all the other costs going up at the same time. The mortgage I had was taken with the standard 3% stress test. But you don’t expect a global pandemic a war in Europe or an incompetent government to fuck to the economy as much as they did so because I had the last remortgage at sub 2% the jump to 5.5% will be unpleasant. Didn’t do anything wrong, put down like 75k deposit which was over a 1/3rd. Currently 200k equity or so.
Average uk house is 296k for a 800 sqft so selling up and moving to an even smaller house isn’t viable.
It’s a standard new build shitbox bought 9 years ago. CPI is 11.1 and my salary sure as hell hasn’t gone up by that much. It’s a combo of things. I can manage it’s just lame cos it’s all out your control.
