Doesn't check out at all. The stock market has been doing much better than the US economy overall thanks in part due to FED and its monetary policies inflating the prices. How do you get only 2% from a sustained bull market?

Cheap and abundant labor is not an unique feature to West Africa. This can very well describe most regions that are or were underdeveloped and densely populated at some point in their history. It is also one of the key elements that allow industrialization especially when productivity is relatively low, as has been the case in England during the Industrial Revolution and most recently in South Korea and PR China.
