here's what we know:
>KYC still a possibility for americans
>network will take 30 days to boot up and vote in after mainnet launch
>the only major BP candidates right now are mega chink exchanges and bitmain
>voting locks your tokens for 3 days
>95% of the volume from $10-20 was chinese and korean pumps
>r/EOS is already warming up to the idea of vote buying and kickbacks

the risks I see:
>block.one forcing KYC before mainnet if US regulators crack down on them
>if price is unstable after launch, people won't vote to avoid lockup
>possible price collapse during network boot up depending on if exchanges are willing to open up active markets or not on tokens that were held on their exchange prior to mainnet (all deps/withdrawals will be suspended with no network)
>people holding tokens/registered their personal address won't be able to deposit during bootup and won't be able to sell during the possible price collapse
>if the BPs end up being majority chinese mega exchanges and mining pools - well, they don't like americans/euros generally
>if controversial dapps are deployed, the media and/or community will pressure the known BPs to censor it off the chain

so EOS will effectively be a trusted third-party based ledger, and not actually decentralized from what I can tell with all the block producers being know.

so yeah, the recent pumps were great but with all these risks will the price be able to hold through launch?

SEC is too smart to full out ban cryptos overnight. their function as an organization is to protect investors, and this would in theory wipe out every investor, which is something they would NEVER do. they may determine them securities but there would be a generous grace period, licenses would be granted, or a grandfather clause implemented. plus the IRS made billions over our gains.

things that aren't mainnet yet I would be much more worried about.
