the main point of FairX is to implement trading pairs that'll attempt to decouple coins from BTC, ETH, etc., as well as to allow fiat-to-crypto trades on altcoins. they're taking their time because they want it to work flawlessly before coming out and trying to be one of the first to do it. nothing worse than shitting out something that's supposed to be all grand and it's a steaming dog turd

>he's not all in on XLM

I'm not sure if they'll include this information on the roadmap that's coming in a couple of days (Jan. 25) or hold on to it for a while but let me just bring your attention to a few things:

KIK, who has their own token (KIN), is bailing on their own currency, in order to change to using XLM on their platform. KIN, being an ERC20 token, was running much too slow for their liking; this is the start of the obvious decoupling of XLM from BTC/ETH (as if it weren't obvious at this point that XLM is closest coupled with XRP, oddly enough). Provided everything goes well, we can expect a Q2 rollout of XLM as an intermediary token for the KIK platform. This just goes to show that while ETH provides smart contracts for transactions, when applied to the real world, some people and applications of coins and tokens operate best on a fast and cheap alternative instead of a completely secure and traceable platform with smart contracts (I know you're going to shit on me for this, but not everything involving cryptocurrency transactions requires a smart contract, especially if we're talking super normies).

IBM is pushing this shit hard to all its consulting clients, pretty much attempting them to move everything into the cloud and the blockchain as a way to make the claim that they've "revolutionized" the way we do modern business. I can't say much, mostly because it's not in my realm of application, but I do know that they're not going to give up on this coin until it accomplishes what they want to accomplish. They're digging themselves out of the dirt using this coin, so frankly, it's do-or-die for them on Stellar being successful.

Plus, the FairX exchange has the possibility of completely dismantling all exchanges by offering the potential to buy into alts with straight fiat, as well as many other pairs that would be absurd to see anywhere else. This platform will be running on Stellar, so it's a safe bet to HODL until then at the least to ride it out. /biz/ thinks normie money is here now, they haven't seen anything yet. FairX could potentially send this shit to the next galaxy. Regardless, that's going to be news worth selling, and, for what it's worth, Teeka called buys up to $1.50 so that might be a sign now that the initial pump and dump from that call is over, coupled with the crash sale earlier this week.

Yeah, not a lot of of it is related to Stellar, but they are very interested in it. Of course they only mention it as "blockchain services" and all that stuff, but deep down, IBM looks at Stellar with high hopes, so that gives me a reason to do the same.

I highly doubt anyone really cares at this point when it's a single, static landing page for a project that has yet to be released. The FairX portion is outside of my jurisdiction so I'm sure it will get sorted out after everything is all said and done, I would be more worried that FairX itself had shoddy coding and stuff like that.

Technically, if you're just buying BTC/ETH to trade for XLM, nothing. You'll be able to buy it with both, maybe slightly more or less depending on the gains seen in ETH and BTC between the time you purchase them and the time you trade for ETH. But see >>5584027
