I'll answer your question with this question: Why is any meme inherently popular? In most cases there is nothing special about a pepe or wojak or other meme that makes it a staple form of communication within a group. In many cases it's just a culture that develops that places value on those memes as a form of identity and sense of belonging. You sneed because you want to be considered a part of the group, which in turn causes a cycle of other users posting sneed until the community decides that it no longer wants to use that image (in which case they'll start insulting or complaining about the image, which in turn is its own cycle).

Not who you replied to, but I had a shit sub-3.0 GPA in CompSci and it took me around 3 months to find a job out of school. Only "job" experience before that was part-time helping a professor for a summer.

5 years later I'm at 125k/y in not-NYC/SF. It does require a little bit of luck and knowing the right people but it is frankly baffling how easy it is to get a good job in this field.
