I am currently at my last year of university studying a useless degree, working a job that gives me very few hours and have quite a bit of spare time.

For the whole week I have been reading "Currency Trading for Dummies", because I actually traded Forex back in high school (non-seriously). I'm finding it more and more fascinating, and fuck me, I would not be opposed to making it a full-time job if I turned out to be good at it.

My idea is to spend 1-2 hours a day for a year reading and demo-trading. A year from now I will start trading with a very small amount (no more than $1k).

Is this worth my time?

Take note of everything you spend money on, and then think "is this necessary or is there a cheaper alternative?", then proceed to cut back on those expenses for a week to try it out. You'll notice it's easier than you'd think to live without half the stuff you're used to.

I used to grab lunch at work every day, then I started bringing in sandwiches, which take 2 minutes to prepare every morning. That's saving me $160 a month.

Cancel your cable, who the fuck watches TV anyway?
Stop shopping at fast fashion clothing chains, buy 5 more expensive but quality pieces every year.
Buy a quality phone and run it for years, don't upgrade just because you can.
Research cheaper phone plans, insurance or whatever subscription services you have on at least a bi-monthly basis.

But most importantly, before you're about to spend money, think "Do I really need this?"

Honestly I'm preaching a minimalist life style.

If you were in a dire financial situation as in tl;dr
>20k debt
>loans, bills, fines, etc
>no wageslavery till the 4th

would you take a $10AUD cash in hand job involving hard physical labour to supplement income for food money for the fortnight, or would you rest for the onslaught and mentally taxing office job that pays triple?

I chose to not work for fuck all in 35 degree heat and instead stay home and play computer games.Granted, I'm not earning money doing this but I'm enjoying myself and I'm also making the most out of the internet that I'm paying for and I'm not busting my ass for mexican change.

If i had a plan of what to do with that $100 that could be made after the hardest workday of my life (invest in trumpcoin or something lel), perhaps it would be worth it... but I can't believe I almost agreed to $10 an hour to mow lawns and pick up rubbish..Man I could make $10 an hour by creating an aggregator for Lawn Maintenance bookings, I'm sure I could knock that shit out in a day or two...

tl;dr

do you reckon i made the right choice to not work today to save energy for my real job that pays at least triple.
