u know that having that graph begin exactly in 1979 is extremely dishonest way to show the data?
try showing the same thing starting in 1970 instead hehe

>but I don't feel comfortable lying to a company holding thousands of dollars worth of my money
That is a very "not going to make it" attitude
ON THE OTHER HAND, not gambling your money away with options and just buying stocks instead is a very "going to make it" thing to do, so we have a bit of a paradox here

I'm a 25 year old software engineer, I make good money, but the past few years I've been way more into investing and economics. I've learned a ton on my own and have a pretty good overall grasp of how this all works, but I've been thinking of using my spare time to get an online Masters in Economics to formalize everything and get a stronger basis for what I could see as a secondary career in the future.

Is there any worth in this? I know many think college is a scam but for an 2-year online masters that would run me about $13k total I think it could be a worthwhile investment. Even if it wasn't super enlightening somewhere down the road I could use it as a resume booster for a managerial or leadership position in a company after I'm done being a code jockey.

Appreciate any insight. Also general career/college and risk/reward discussion to keep things /biz/ related.

Currently living in the embers of it. Bought a $23k car, didn't carry comprehensive coverage, got into an accident and was cited, had $17k left to pay on the loan, car was basically totaled but some guy at a body shop said he'd do an aftermarket parts job for $7k, he took my money and didn't do shit for 4 months, now I'm suing him for that and driving an old piece of shit while my car remains dunzo.

I can afford to buy 4 cars thanks to being pretty financially reponsible but this whole episode is a punch in the gut and I don't think I'm ever going to bother with a moderately expensive car again. It's put a dent in my burgeoning investment fund.
