So I guess the question is, assuming they do want to keep me on board (if they tell me to fuck off for asking for compensation then there's not much I can do about that), how do I go about asking?

How do I find gigs as a freelance web developer/designer? I have experience with Wordpress and I build a lot of personal projects on some other platforms as well. I don't have much luck with Craigslist though (relatively small city). And a lot of the really small businesses that don't have a site or have a really shitty template site don't realize that you need an *attractive* web presence, so part of my question is how do I convince people of that?

TL;DR: Help me get quick "make it rain" money!
