yes, I'd also like to thank the anons who suggested cleaning it with bicarbonate of soda, I tried using some dry and it worked amazingly! simply rubbed it on with my fingers and it took it to a great degree of shine, looks better irl. This coin was all black and nasty, I know some people want the patina for collector's value or antique value, but I am not bothered about that, it wasn't nice looking patina or anything special. I'd prefer it to look like the silver treasure it is.
