I'm sure whatever you have will be fine as long as you follow the directions for the device and use quality salmon. If you want to make something special you can do a cedar plank grill (not quite smoking, but infuses smoky flavors with minimal time/effort investment). Cold smoking (smoking at a low temp for minimal cooking, gives you a delicious sashimi-like mouth feel with smoky flavor). or Even making gravlax (cured in salt, dill, and sugar).
