can you bump you're own threads I don't remember

Going to apply for a 3 week gig that pays a higher hourly than I was getting at my last contract role (indefinite contracts, so they cut you whenever the work slows down with no notice). Maybe roll it into asking for higher pay. And if it's only 3 weeks long they probably won't have a super strict interview process? One would think.
Seriously, are there any better strategies to approach the money game?

Feels bad. I hate that the first thing people want to say is, "well you shouldn't have majored in underwater basket weaving." That isn't actually the case for most people.
