Why it doesn't go up as it used to?

I'm going to wait for it to tank some more before investing anything, are there good sources to learn about investing in general? Is it different when you are based in the U.s or Europe?

If I do end up investing this would be my first time investing in anything, but I'm not really familiar with any of the technical terms and ways yet, how does a Newfag with some money on the side learn?

Adam, Bob, Chuck, David, Eric and Frank are sitting at a table.

Adam takes an ordinary rock out of his pocket, and scribbles his initial "A" on it.

"This rock," he says, "will be worth millions one day. It's one of a kind."

The others are dubious. "Why would an ordinary rock be worth anything at all? Because you wrote an 'A' on it? Even if we accept that the letter has some value, anyone could write it on any other rock."

"Ah, but this is the only 'A' that was written by me, and I'm not writing it again. This rock is all there is and ever will be."

The others laugh, but suddenly Bob, half in jest, offers to buy the rock for $1. Adam accepts.

Having overseen this transaction, Chuck now wishes he had the rock and offers $2 to Bob. Bob accepts, and has doubled his money.

David now offers $3, but Eric cuts in and offers $4. Chuck refuses, because he's had a brilliant idea: he'll bust the rock in half and sell a half to each of them. Further, he demands $3 for each half, which the others willingly pay.

Frank is now feeling like he's missed out, and offers to buy both halves for $4 each. He does so, and is now the proud owner of a scribbled on, cracked rock. Despite bringing it up multiple times, no one offers to buy the rock from him again.

Adam and Bob gained $1, Chuck gained $4, David and Eric gained $1. Frank lost $8.

This is a zero-sum game because the profits and losses of each player add up to zero, and it's exactly what's happening with bitcoin, albeit at a much grander scale. "Everyone who invests now will be rich" is exactly what Frank was thinking, but it can't possibly happen for everyone. For everyone who gains $10k, someone else has to lose it.
