I am skeptical about the idea that the increase in the price of one product, whatever it may be, can result in a general increase in prices.
There was an oil crisis during the 70's before and in the US the inflation reached close to 15% at its peak, in many other places it went all the way up to 25%
Not in Germany however, whose central bank, the Bundesbank, was and still is the most hardcore when it comes to keeping inflation under control and had no trouble turning up interest rates. As you can see,
