You need to have a long term focus on investing. Look up Ben Felix on youtube. He goes over studies about the various parts of investing, financial planning etc

maybe.. active ETF's reek of the same neurosis that active mutual funds have, ie. one of the main factors that lead to under performance against their benchmark is the high MER
Maybe Cathie Wood is the new Jim SImons

I am skeptical that the TFSA in its current state, will survive the test of time. Especially with more and more millenials and zoomers using it as the primary savings and retirement account. With millions accumulating in their, government may seek to alter the rules. The government will need to see more and more avenues to generate tax revenue to fun their social programs, which are expanding not shrinking.
Reminder, the GST was temporary.

why not just trade on mathematics and intervene only in extreme scenarios? It's possible, you just need to learn.

yet it is the best explanation to apply to a long term investment strategy. Especially for the average person.
Of course you could be like pic related and find opportunities but I dont think most firms or individuals have figured out a similar or better algorithm

One analyst/expert says "worst is behind us" another says "the worst is still to come". How does one craft a long term strategy from this ? Do you really expect to stay ahead of the market to maximize gains and minimize losses for the next 40-50 yrs?

Unless they put together a team that can develop a model similar/better than pic related, over the long term, they are not likely to beat the market. Hell even Buffet BTFO a hedge fund for a million $ bet
